Community Educator, Founder & The Groundskeeper of With Reverence Co-op

As a self-identifying perpetual student, AJ often views herself as a historical scavenger hunter who uncovers unknown history and history that is commonly known but falsely taught. With an innate natural inquisitiveness, a bit of educational mischief, and a love of learning as her fuel, the Kenyan native founded With Reverence Co-op (WRC), a facilitated storytelling history initiative that supports today's history makers with intention, momentum, and care. WRC aims to immerse curious minds in the places, events and people who made substantial, unacknowledged contributions to the grand adventure of the U.S. Her role as The Groundskeeper of WRC is to till nuggets of history, plant seeds of exploration, then water and nurture the space as folks explore and reexamine history for a future centered on community and compassion using her own brand of dynamic storytelling. While grounding her work in her no knowledge-shaming ethos, AJ utilizes curiosity and questions to get to the root of how to shift our mindsets and perspectives around Black history in this country and beyond. When taking a break from causing educational mischief, AJ spends her downtime with comic books, sleepovers with her niece and nephews, family hangout sessions, and hosting dinners and decompression spaces for Black and Brown women.
