Jamie Herlich – Director of Development
What is your favorite Rep production of all time, why?
I’ve been coming to the Rep for as long as I can remember, so there are so many shows to choose from! I think that I’d say it is The Good Times are Killing Me just because it had such a huge impact on me. The protagonists were two young girls and the play addressed themes of race and culture. As an eight year old, seeing a play with characters just like me dealing with important topics was huge. My parents ended up getting me a poster from the show, which I hung in my bedroom – and which now is hanging in my office at the Rep. It’s kind of an amazing, full-circle story actually.
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I love that Development requires both sides of my brain – there’s the systems and numbers, which is more black and white and concrete, and then there’s the relationship building and strategy, which is much more nuanced and instinctual. When you put both of those things together successfully, it’s amazing what can happen!
